Uttaranchal is known as 'Dev Bhoomi' (Land of God), every second step and you reach a temple; which depicts story of a Dev/Devi/Gandharv/Rishi/Muni or a divine soul. Every stone tells a story. This is first preference of every devout hindu to visit Dev Bhoomi and bow his head once in the beautiful Dev Bhoomi. After leaving the doors of Devbhoomi, Haridwar, the beauty of the nature is visible all over. One can see it in the simple nature of the people, beautiful valleys, fountains, rivers, mountains, flowers. Open eyes and you will see a beauty. We have tried to gather some information from different sources; on different temples and religious places across uttaranchal. If you can contribute something we will be obliged. Also if you find anything wrong or any wrong information, please let us know and we will change it. A few of the temples with available information have been added.
One don't need to ask which places are sacred here, every place is sacred, every drop of water is Gangajal, every leaf of tree is Bel Patra. So it is a complete pilgrimage. There are couple of temples which were constructed centuries ago and they are still in same shape and still maintained same way. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, Gangotri are the common names and most visited temples here. But there is a lot and lot more to visit, be it 'Satopant' which takes approximately 3 days to reach from Badrinath or 'Kalshila' which is some 10 KMs from Guptakashi. If you want to feel it, you need to see it.
