Histroy It is believed that once Godess Parvati wishes to see her reflection, lord Shiva made this round lake for godess to see her face.
There is a another legend by locals that according to the tradition the Royal family of Garhwal conduct a Rajjat to seek forgiveness from Nanda Devi, and offer "tarpan" to one of their ancestors who died at Roopkund along with his pregnent wife and soldier.
